<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhiSlzYfZPWFEe5CKC0ebFtRgkwHE7npNJMgyMVuI3MheRlTK8_qL1WR-wu_tyk1s4uTTrLyK2XA5ViYAJbbsSr-fzvjX-0nUNQJyNBxERT05PP8pW2lJdMX9f41fhDjAElczzivcSWS2dy/s400/pro-F.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5192631111049919074" />Marwin Lee Beckhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18228783783931430014noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1003608701125443573.post-38891137217843137882008-04-08T04:47:00.000-07:002011-06-28T12:49:09.254-07:00Marwin Lee Бeck - The Biography<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg_io7iGhtNz8I4aMPziBXMADgYl1T-UC8Vab4r_livxDwn4ZnGjLd-xURXmMOHZs_NmcLIjHDyUUKm_q6Km7bhxBtLZOSwa6WtLohxh5WOdgurRpShlGYX8pdG_dDCgcrTtPuDaALyJs5a/s320/pitor001.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5186846091613011458" />

Marwin’s biography includes many fairy-tale elements. He was born in Bukhara, a city in today’s Uzbekistan, during one of the most spectacular sandstorms man can remember. On that long ago day in 1966, a thin veil of red sand from the Kyzyl Kum desert covered the ancient capital of Oriental mysticism.
The descendant of a family whose legacy dates back to the era of the great Khazarian Khanate, known for its extraordinary tolerance, broadmindedness, respect for ancient traditions and dedication to helping their fellowmen, Marwin knew how to ride a horse before he could walk, thanks to his great-grandfather, a legendary hero or the cavalry during the First World War. And even before learning how to read, he was able to differentiate all of the herbal plants, thanks to his great-grand-mother, a healer who every year took him with her to the wonderful valleys of Tian-Shan to gather the “byline”, officinal herbs, and to drink ”kefir”, the mythical drink of nomadic shepherds that gives long life.
At the age of four, Marwin moved to Prague, in the very heart of another culture heavy with traditions and mysticism. Here, he approached the teaching of Holy Scriptures for the first time and became a devoted pupil of his grandfather Alvise Dov Liebeck. While still a boy he received his first schooling in Prague where he was able to absorb the rich cultural life of the city: theatres, art shows, galleries, and concerts. Dark reading rooms in public libraries or narrow labyrinths of the bookstores of Prague bursting with used and ancient books became the world where he loved to immerse himself in.
Nevertheless, the longing for the silence of the desert, rich in hidden tension, and the striking greenness of the high mountain spring meadows proved the stronger pull and Marwin returned to Bukhara at an age when he needed to choose his future.
He enrolled at the Institute for the Applied Arts and Craftsmanship, specializing in calligraphy. However, he soon realised that the entire Soviet system was enwrapped in a kind of sclerosis and he decided to rebel and escape.
He wandered through central Asia, occasionally working. He joined underground cultural movements and lived from day to day until one day he happened to step into a small craftsman’s shop in Ferghana, not very far away from his native Bukhara. Here, he met the man who would become his Master and spiritual guide: Hd. Daud al-Din Sharisbani, a humble house decorator and painter of miniatures who, as Marwin would later discover, was one of the last surviving members of the legendary congregation of dancing Dervish from Bukhara that was eliminated during Stalin’s reign of terror in the thirties.
Marwin studied and worked alongside his Master for several years. However, before crossing the threshold of that ancient gift of Sufism of “seeing the real world”, he had to make a promise, a kind of seal of devotion and a challenge at the same time, to not practice the Art until his 41st birthday, which is the supreme magic number in central Asian tradition.
After his long apprenticeship, Marwin retured to his nomadic life-style albeit this time with the clear aim of improving his own knowledge and capabilities. He lived with some horse sheperds on the mountain, he got to know the world of legends and story-telling, the voices for these stories being the „moldo“ – Tajik clairvoyants, Buryati exorcists, and Kyrgyz shamanist healers, learning from them the art of "mescheness" – the ancient way of mystic meditation.

Later on, he reunited with his family in Prague where he attended university, travelled to study in Europe and in the near East, he visited millenary kabbala centres in Safed and Sufist schools in Istambul.
Finally, he settled in Italy where for some years he did some fairly low-key jobs: decorator, lyrical theatre actor, cleaner, factory worker, railwayman, translator, teacher of languages, and horse breeder.
Time unfurled his promise: at the age of 41, Marwin returned to drawing and painting. In 2007, he organized his first informal art shows and he basically started the discipline where he successfully intertwines Oriental roots with the Italian world by creating Creative Archaeology.

------------Marwin Lee Beckhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18228783783931430014noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1003608701125443573.post-67838542093169946792008-04-02T09:42:00.000-07:002008-12-11T09:09:13.420-08:00L’Archéologie créative<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjAN9hfOIPy2JEZRtSySo5PoQFOFKSMMEZi4QC3UWbFZle2BBMIZaOr51sajYOu_ygnk_I4jZnITVJPU5H_WizcdUKIf-XVo4xYY_OXxoja8yGHQeYOWtTz0Tgxk_PO0gZGCifW6xWbkykt/s320/pergola001.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5184690013735452146" />

(traduction on Français du Aurore Navarro)Marwin Lee Beckhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18228783783931430014noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1003608701125443573.post-56220757088286072552008-03-31T11:47:00.001-07:002009-04-27T18:13:26.149-07:00How To Buy the Paintings
* Email me for a price list of available paintings.

While intertwining spiritual Asian influences with the mysterious aura that has always surrounded the extinct Etruscan culture, Beck recreates his own vision of the habitat of the people that came from the sea.
Marwin was deeply struck by the impressive Etruscan statues brought back to light in the Seventies and displayed today at the Etruscan Museum of Murlo, near Siena. These statues wear hats that are identical in shape to those of Mexican carreteros (but also to some ancient Chinese funerary statues), with eyes evoking those depicted in African tribal masks and long beards in the truest Babylon style. The Artist perceived that these findings, the real “archetypes of the hybrid people”, could be the tip of an even more impressive iceberg and threw himself into carrying out extensive research. In the end, his intuition led to follow the traces of an ancient Etruscan settlement and of an autochthon culture that Beck renamed Etruvia to distinguish it from the already well-known historical theories. Very soon, his efforts brought the first positive results (the polyhedric Beck learnt the work of an archaeologist hands on, many years ago, when involved in excavations in the Uzbek Samarkanda and Khiva area). Ancient walls and underground galleries in secluded Tuscan countryside ignored by tourism have begun to yield treasures that had been preserved for thousands of years.
Hence, late in the Spring of 2007, Beck announced the finding of an impressive quantity of hand-written manuscripts and drawings, later on called “the Etruvian treasure”, and started restoring and showing those parts that were violated by time and the inclemency of the weather.
Beck soon realized that a amidst widely heterogeneous material, both for its linguistic incomprehensibility (let us not forget that the writings of this people are still unintelligible today), and for the vastness of artistic content belonging to all the different levels of expression, a collection of works stood out for the clarity of the visual language and consistency of style and some of which bear the traces of the initials of the same craftsman.
With this painstaking work, Beck managed to identify and isolate a source of ancient artwork until now unknown and attributable to one author (or his workshop) who he would call the Anonymous Etruvian.
The rest is current day history, and the results of the method that Beck summarises in the manifest of the Creative Archaeology start to create a stir.
The exhibition, in the prestigious surroundings of the LifeGate Café, is totally devoted to the works of the Anonymous Etruvian, rediscovered, reconstructed and restored by Marwin Beck and gives an enchanting insight into the past that for so long was sunk in oblivion.
Beck takes us back to the heart of ancient Etruvia, inhabited by people devoted to fishing and gardening and he offers us thought-provoking and intense insights, full of special nostalgia for their world that disappeared into the enticing hilly Tuscan landscape way.
Gestures and postures rich in overwhelming inner sensitivity, almost baroque, and with a clear Mediterranean matrix, with total simplicity and acute ability announce what will resurface centuries later in the myriads of small influences or clear evocations be they of the composition, thematic or structural, both in the era of classic painting and in the era of the most anti-academic modernism of the beginning of the XX century, which is more than obvious if we look at the extraordinary examples brought back to life by Beck.
A wide section of the works being exhibited is dedicated to the Etruvian fauna and flora, whereby the ichthyic-graphic and birdlife-graphic series prevails, which surprises and casts its spell on us not only for the ancient mastery of the detailed execution, but also for its scientific implications since it seems to announce from centuries far back in time that which only the modern era, the Enlightenment and European encyclopaedism will make possible – i.e. the classification and scientific observation of details in living species, demonstrating how in this field too the Etruvian culture was a formidable forerunner for the basis of our own civilization.

(text by Cristina Bongiorno)

Marwin Lee Beckhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18228783783931430014noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1003608701125443573.post-90091327864627995812008-02-22T14:47:00.000-08:002008-12-11T09:09:16.988-08:00<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiW19OTtrN3hbiS0-5aUz9JBmIjPkmJY99nI4XWblITBqo4T4MMF3Anwa4QPRnPyWbRtrjvZaoRFkRm06DnX21lHU8bWzeywNmoH1Zv8wziU-gXkqRK-KciARS_M7TXxphZ05H7L5gU296v/s320/Facciata+1.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5173971557765179858" />

------------Marwin Lee Beckhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18228783783931430014noreply@blogger.com
